Week 7: BAGS Green Earth Junior Invitation presented by the Barrie Advance

Wyvale’s Taylor Steele knocked in a five footer for birdie in the first extra hole to capture the Junior Boys title at the BAGS Junior Tour event at Innisbrook GC.

Bantam Girls Daniella Hopper of Barrie and Orillia’s Jamie Wainman both shot 82’s at the BAGS Junior Tours event at Innisbrook GC. Hopper made a great up and down on the first playoff hole to take the title.

Barrie, On., July 7, 2001 – It was a busy week on the BAGS Junior Tour with the first round of the Matchplay showdown on Monday at Brooklea G&CC in Midland followed by the tour stop at Innisbrook Golf Club in Barrie on Wednesday. The players coped with extremely hot conditions during both events.

Scorching heat during the round at Innisbrook didn’t stop the players from posting some impressive scores. The low round of the day was posted by Matthieu Orr with a blistering 63 en route to taking the Bantam title. In the Junior division Wyevale’s Taylor Steele dropped a five footer for birdie on the first extra hole over Holland Landing’s Thomas Scott to win the Junior division. Also in a playoff Barrie’s Daniella Hopper topped Orillia’s Jamie Wainman in the Bantam Girls section. Sudbury’s Simran Dhatt-Gauthier and captured the Minor Bantam while Mathew Viveiros of Barrie’s 64 was low score for the Juvenile divisions.
